Employees of the Year 2022/2023

We are proud to announce this year's Summer Lake Teacher of the Year, Frederick Barrun. Mr. Barrun leads our Special Education Department. This is Erick's tenth year in the Oakley Union Elementary School District. He has 27 years of experience working in Special Education. He has taught all programs including K-12 inclusion, resource, SDC life skills, and Autism programs. He was previously voted Teacher of the Year in 2016 while he was at O'Hara Park Middle School.

"I enjoy the challenge of helping students believe and then realize that they are as capable as everyone else. I want my students to know that they are all special because of the gifts they each have. I did not come to education by chance. My mom was an educator and I saw the need to be part of the teaching profession.
